CPD accreditation: Simulation-based learning activities
Simulation approximates real-life situations, allowing participants to demonstrate (and receive feedback on) their application of knowledge (scientific and tacit), clinical reasoning, communication and problem-solving, as well as their ability to collaborate and work effectively in a health care team.
In order for an activity to be eligible for accreditation, it must be developed by a physician organization.
Apply for accreditation
Program developers who meet the definition of a physician organization are encouraged to contact a Royal College-accredited CPD provider to obtain the appropriate forms, policies and procedures or applicable fees for having the program reviewed and accredited for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credit.
Be sure to choose an accredited CPD provider based on the target audience of your activity.
Guidelines for simulation activities
Simulations include a wide range of tools of varying complexity. Simulations may be included as a component of a broader educational program or course, or as a stand-alone simulation program.
Credits can only be claimed under Section 3 of the MOC Program if the simulation activity has been reviewed and approved by a Royal College-accredited CPD provider.
